How to Create Perfect Portrait Avatars with Gradients

A professional avatar is crucial for platforms like LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter, and Slack. It represents your digital identity. While a simple photo works, framing yourself against a vibrant gradient backdrop immediately adds a premium, design-forward look.

Selecting the Right Colors

When selecting a gradient background, keep contrast in mind. If you have dark hair or are wearing dark clothing, choose a lighter gradient preset (like Sunset Glow or Neon Coral) to make your profile stand out. If you are wearing light colors, a deep, saturated gradient (like Midnight Blue or Royal Velvet) works best.

Creating a Rounded Profile Pic in the Editor

Our local editor has a dedicated **Profile Pic** preset that automates this workflow:

  1. Upload your headshot to the **Background Remover**.
  2. Once the cutout is finished, select the **Profile Pic** layout preset.
  3. This will crop the viewport into a circular frame, isolate your headshot, and add a double-ring gradient outline.
  4. Choose from the curated gradient presets (like Cyberpunk or Sunset Glow) or pick solid colors.
  5. Download the final transparent PNG cutout and upload it directly as your new avatar.
